Why this is personal for me
My great-grandfather came to America from Austria alone, at twelve, with almost nothing. He learned a trade and built his own tool and die shop in Detroit from the ground up. I grew up on those stories, and they taught me what skilled work, and running a business of your own, really take.
I studied engineering at Michigan State, earned my MBA at the University of Florida, and spent years working in corporate America. The whole time, I kept thinking about the people my great-grandfather was one of: the people who keep this country running. The ones who do the real work and still lose money every time the phone rings while they're out on a job.
