Status Texting goes live after carrier registration, usually 1 to 3 weeks.
What is missed-call text-back?
Missed-call text-back is an automatic text your business sends to anyone whose call you didn't answer. It goes out within 60 seconds and says something like this:
Hi, this is [Your Company]. Sorry we missed your call. What can we help with? You can reply here or we'll call you back shortly. Reply STOP to opt out.
A caller who gets that text knows a real company saw the call. A lot of them reply with the problem right there, and a reply by text is a lead you can book instead of a lead that called the next company on Google.
Why does 60 seconds matter?
Because people who need a plumber don't wait around. The best-known research on this is old but still holds up: a Harvard Business Review study found that companies that contacted a lead within an hour were nearly seven times as likely to qualify that lead as companies that waited even an hour longer. The same research audited 2,241 U.S. companies: 23% never responded to a web lead at all, and among those that responded within 30 days, the average response time was 42 hours. A homeowner with water on the floor won't wait 42 hours, or even 42 minutes.
How does instant lead follow-up work?
Calls aren't the only leads that go cold. Web form submissions, quote requests, and leads from directories sit in inboxes too. Kedvezo replies to those within a minute by text and email, using the details the person entered, and offers to book them.
If they don't answer, a short follow-up sequence runs over the next several days. It stops the moment they reply, book, or opt out, and it never sends promotions. For web form leads, the form itself collects consent to text, so the follow-up rests on a clear opt-in.
Quote follow-up works the same way. A roofer who sends a replacement estimate on Monday and never hears back usually doesn't chase it. The system does, politely, and tells you when the customer responds.
What about compliance?
U.S. carriers require business texting from a regular 10-digit number to be registered under a framework called A2P 10DLC. Unregistered texts get filtered or blocked, often without any error message, so you'd never know they didn't arrive. We register your business and your messaging campaign, host the privacy policy and terms the carriers ask for, and set up STOP and HELP handling so opt-outs are honored automatically.
Registration is why texting doesn't start on day one. Carriers review each business and each campaign, and that usually takes 1 to 3 weeks, sometimes longer if they send it back with questions. The AI receptionist doesn't need it, so calls get answered while the paperwork clears. We won't turn texting on until the registration is approved.
The missed-call text-back and A2P 10DLC guide explains the rules in plain English.
How does it fit with the AI receptionist?
The AI receptionist does most of the work, because it answers calls so fewer get missed in the first place. Text-back covers what's left: the caller who hangs up during the greeting, a dropped call, or someone who would rather text than talk. Together they leave very few calls that end with nothing.
What does it cost?
It's part of one flat monthly price, quoted on a 15-minute call, month to month. See pricing.
